Doctor

Ella Hegarty


Dr Ella completed an Honours degree in Pharmacology before studying Medicine. She qualified as a doctor in the UK in 2001. She then worked for 7 years as a Junior Surgeon at some of London’s Elite Institutions. In 2010 she began work as a GP. She has worked as a GP in 3 different countries, both in rural and urban settings.

Dr Ella loves working with children, helping patients with chronic illness, skin issues, performing skin checks, minor operations and women’s health. She removes skin cancers, and can perform skin grafts and skin flap procedures when required.

Dr Ella teaches medical students. Dr Ella enjoys helping women with hormonal disorders and menopausal health issues. Dr Ella is comfortable consulting with all manner of sexual health issues and has longer appointments available for mental health plans. For some patients counselling sessions are available with prior agreement.

Hnin Wai Maung


Dr Hnin Wai Maung graduated with a medical degree from Myanmar in 2009. Since then she has been working as a family doctor. She came to Australia over 10 years ago and continued her career as a GP in both urban and regional Western Australia, before moving to New South Wales.

Dr Hnin’s postgraduate qualifications include FRACGP, postgraduate diploma in practical dermatology, professional diploma in dermoscopy and Sydney Child Health Program.  Her special interests are family medicine, women’s health, chronic diseases management and skin cancer.  Outside of work, she loves travelling, meeting people from different parts of the world, learning their unique culture, discovering nature and savouring new local foods.

Prue Osborne


Dr Prue grew up as a Newcastle local, attending Merewether High before moving to Sydney University where she completed a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2007. She moved home to attend the University of Newcastle, completing her Medical Degree in 2012, graduating with Distinction. After working for Hunter New England Health for a number of years, Prue started GP training. She took a brief hiatus in Seattle, USA to build her family before returning to Australia to complete her Fellowship in General Practice with RACGP in 2021.

In line with her special interests in Women and Children Health, Mental Health and all aspects of preventative medicine, Prue has completed additional RACGP training in mental health, holds a Diploma in Children’s Health through Sydney University and a Family Planning National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health. Prue is currently an Associate Lecturer in the School of Medicine and Public Health at Newcastle University, involved in teaching of medical students.

Outside of work, Prue lives with her husband and 2 very energetic kids and enjoys bike riding and park hopping on the weekends.

Dr Prue will be available for consultations all day Monday and Tuesday.

Ann Koshy


Dr Ann Koshy is a Novocastrian, born and bred and holds has a fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She has worked in general practice for close to 20 years.

Dr Ann’s areas of interest include women and children’s health and mental health.

She also has a keen interest in skin and dermatology and was lucky enough to be mentored by the dermatologists at the Royal Newcastle centre dermatology clinic at JHH during her GP fellowship training.

She was also an educator for GP registrars both in clinic as well as part of the GP training program in Newcastle and the Hunter region.

Dr Ann will be available for consultations all day Tuesday.

Carina Smith


Dr Carina qualified as a doctor in the UK in 2012. She worked in a range of specialities before relocating to Australia in 2014. She then worked in Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics in both Queensland and WA before returning to the UK in 2020, to complete her GP Fellowship.

Dr Carina ranked first nationally in her final GP Fellowship examinations and holds a Diploma in Child Health (DCH UK) and a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRCOG UK). She also has advanced skills in urgent and emergency care.

Dr Carina enjoys the varied spectrum of General Practice, adopting a patient centred approach to health care, and will be available on a Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Dr Carina has recently settled in Newcastle with her husband and children.

Eleshia is a Registered Nurse with 30 years experience and who has been working in General Practice for more than 5 years.

Eleshia values building relationships with the people in the community, to assist them with their health and wellbeing. She is passionate about holistic health care and helping people live well.

Eleshia’s interests outside of work include spending time on / in the water (swimming, kayaking, boating, fishing), cooking / baking, arts and crafts (sewing, painting) and having quality time with her family and friends.
